Published by ASCE
A peer-reviewed ASCE journal for scholarship at the intersection of law, engineering, and construction.
The Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution in Engineering and Construction publishes scholarly papers, case studies, and legal notes on the legal dimensions of engineering and construction practice. Its readership spans construction lawyers, engineers, contract administrators, arbitrators, and academics worldwide.
Subject areas include contract law and interpretation and the impact of contract conditions on project conflicts; professional liability and negligence; public bidding and procurement; alternative dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, dispute boards, and arbitration; tort, insurance, and workers’ compensation law; environmental compliance and the legal aspects of sustainable construction; real estate development, product liability, and labor law; legal issues in Building Information Modeling and digital construction; construction deficiencies, schedule delays, and disruption claims; and regulatory compliance in areas such as accessibility and occupational safety.
The journal is published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. It is indexed in Scopus and included in the Web of Science.
Papers accepted for the International LADR Workshop are published in a dedicated special collection of the journal. Abstracts are submitted through this site; full manuscripts are then submitted through ASCE’s Editorial Manager and undergo the journal’s standard peer review by at least two reviewers and an editor.
Manuscript submission, review, and revision take place in ASCE’s Editorial Manager system, not on this site. Authors whose abstracts are accepted will receive instructions for manuscript submission with their decision notice.
